GEOWork + Design Landscape Architecture & Planning is an evolution of LANDWORKS DESIGN (formerly of Newcastle, ME). The office was founded in 1996 by George S. Workman, a landscape architect with a passion to practice excellence in designing beautiful, functional and sustainable environments. With professional registration in several US states, his team network also enjoys extensive connection with a variety of international consultants in order to provide design and consulting services for projects at home and abroad. While we maintain a relatively small internal office staff, our team resources are expanded at any time through a network of excellent professional colleagues and is always prepared to address a wide variety of creative opportunities.
Environmental Design work has included all types and scales of projects from, Landscape Architecture, Land Development, Land Planning, Architecture, Technical & Ecological Site Engineering, and all facets of Environmental Art. GW+D has specialized in hands-on site design and site construction processes. George himself has also been involved with a unique variety of specialty projects in areas such as:

As team leader, George’s multi-faceted set of personal interests that inform and expand his professional inspiration.
Beyond Environmental Design, professional work has included a variety of artistry and craftsmanship, from furniture design, design of a Gypsy Caravan, sculpture, classical painting, illustration, graphic design (logo design) and stage set design & construction. He has helped to build the lacrosse community in Maine, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Philadelphia, Assisted in the recovery efforts from Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, and served as Membership Chair for The Coastal Maine Botanical Garden.
George has also served as Adjunct Professor of Landscape Architecture at Temple University in Philadelphia, and Design Instructor at the Morris Arboretum (UPenn), and Design Juror at the University of Pennsylvania.
